About Us

Cairo Demographic Center (CDC) was jointly established by the United Nations and the Egyptian Government in 1963. It's main objective is to build the capacities in the area of population and their relationship to development in the Arab and African Regions.

The agreement between the Egytpain Government and United Nations was renwed for several times before it was terminated in 1991. In January 1992, the Egyptian Government took full responsibility for the center. At this time, a Presidential Decree was issued establishing CDC as an independent institution sponsored and financed by the Egyptian Government.

In 2006, the center became affiliated to the institute of National Planning.

In November 2014, a Prime Minister Decree reestablished CDC as an independent autonomous training and research institute governed by a board ot trustees headed by His Excellency Minister of Planning and Administrative Reform.
